UCAPS was created because Public Service Union Dominance of Politics is . .

Not fair to the rest of us

                                        Shrinking the private sector

                                        Bringing us health care disaster

                                        Growing government uncontrollably

There is gross lack of parity between the Public and the Private Sector.

It is just not fair that a privileged 20-25% of Californians get a lifetime of comfort and security at the expense of the rest of us.  In fact it is only possible because the rest of us do not get these things.  Imagine if we all were able to dictate our pay, our work rules, our benefits and our retirement deals.  Imagine if we could set our own productivity requirements and could not be fired. While that may sound good on the face of it, we all know that this does not work if it applied to everyone.  It has been tried before and failed miserably in places like the USSR, Cuba, General Motors and North Korea.

If you work in the public sector for any length of time, a wonderful retirement awaits you - courtesy of the taxpayers.   A Public Sector worker who has made $50,000 - $80,000 per year for 30 years will retire with a $70,000 annual pension and gold plated benefits for life. Simple mathematics shows that for a Private Sector worker to achieve an equivalent retirement, he or she must save approximately 1.2 million dollars  -  that is $40,000 for each year worked over a 30 year career.   Are you are on track to secure such a retirement for yourself? Do you think it is fair or reasonable for you and your children to pay for theirs?

Excessive regulation and taxation kills private sector jobs and opportunity.

The only "growth industry" lately has been government regulation of the private sector and the private lives of citizens.  It is no coincidence that employment in the private sector has dropped dramatically at the same time.   Of course, there is always a good story provided by politicians and government officials about the necessity for every program, every regulation and every bloated and meddlesome new department.  But government  never provides any honest  justification or cost-benefit analysis for these expansions - after all it is not their money or their jobs or careers that they are putting at risk, it is ours.

The public sector is well insulated from the harmful affects of health care legislation - we are not.

John C. Fleming , a US Congressman and an MD from Louisiana, is fighting a thus far unsuccessful battle to get government leaders and staff to agree to be subject to the same health care legislation as the rest of us. This has been met with either self-serving arguments or stony silence.  Do we even need to know any more about this monstrosity of a health bill?  As voting citizens we are too easily manipulated, bought off with special interest treatments or just duped by disingenuous and duplicitous politicians.  Public service unions see this health care legislation as a means to grow their numbers and their power without risk of undoing their own gold-plated health benefits. They don't care what it actually does.

Government will not check its own growth - so we have to do it.

It is easy to observe that almost every government function, department, bureau or program exists in part to insure its own continuation and growth - regardless of effectiveness or its cost-benefit profile.   It is also well understood that there is a strong correlation between growth in government spending and reduction of opportunity in the private sector.   Therefore it is a prime task of UCAPS to gaurd against unnecessary government growth, acknowledging that Public Sector Unions almost always support and  promote such growth as a means to grow their own membership, power and control.

UCAPS provides focus and vote concentration to counterbalance the public union affect and protect the  interests of those of us who toil in the private sector.
